Sot Ddu Kung: A Korean Food Adventure Awaits

Sot Ddu Kung has been around for a long time in the same location. I remember dining here when I was still affiliated with my first job (more than a decade ago). I am just not sure of its exact operating years. Before, inside the restaurant were rooms with sliding similar to what we see in Korean dramas because that was where we ate together with my colleagues at that time. There were also tables and chairs for those who would prefer the usual setup.

Now, Sot Ddu Kung has a pure table and chairs setup. And they were able to create a buffet setup for their Korean barbeque offer. Unlike other Korean resto in the metro, Sot Ddu Kung has a buffet setup for all their meat, side dishes, and Korean street food. There is no need to raise your hand to call the attention of the staff to ask for a refill because here, all you have to do is to go to the buffet area and take what you want to have with gusto.

Please take note that their buffet starts at 5:00 P.M. daily.

What We Had

We had their P549 promo. If your budget allows, I would suggest going with this choice because it is worth the value for the money.

Their grill is not ‘butane’ and not the usual grill. The staff prioritized safety as they added water to the grill so that it would mix with the oil. If all the oil accumulates in the grill with no water, there could be a tendency for it might explode and result in fire. The staff would closely monitor and check from time to time.

They also change regularly the aluminum foil to ensure that what the customer would partake in is not burnt.

Honestly, I wasn’t able to try everything in the buffet because there were a lot in options but here are the best so far for me:

– their Kimchi is to die for (this is the make or break of a samgyupsal place and Sot Ddu Kung did not disappoint)

– the marinated pork and chicken are so good

– Gyeran mari (egg roll) is the best I had

– Kimbap is also good

– Yangyeom chicken is also worth a try

We will be surely visiting next time and try all the things we’ve missed.
