I am a Legal Editor by profession based in Iloilo City, but my passion is content creation. My journey in blogging has been a fascinating exploration of writing meaningful stories for the web. With a heart that beats for Iloilo and the Philippines, I’m on a mission to publish every worthy feature that would help the readers in the simplest way it could.
How it started
SheMaeGomez started in 2009 as a school requirement for an English subject. Our professor in one of our English classes asked us that instead of submitting an essay on a piece of paper, why not create a blog and post it there? That is when I started with a free subdomain hosted via WordPress.
It also served as my personal space to write the things I could not express. It was also the same year when my father died. It was a little hard to cope and the blog has become a channel so can type and tell stories in my head. No judgments.
For years it has been that way. No niche. No target. Just pure avenue to document how I was surviving the days until it become months, and months have become years. My post would range from poems, to letters, rants, to raves, or a typical online diary what I did for the day. I can still remember that my meta-title that time was “Sheila’s Online Diary”.
Post-graduation era
I graduated in college in 2012 and I landed a job in search engine optimization (SEO). While blogging and WordPress were not the main strategies to rank number 1 in results pages, it helped me a lot to adjust in my new environment. To be a little familiar on the platform and the navigation was a confidence boost.
It continued as I stayed in the job until 2017. This is also where I learned more on website development, website design, on-page SEO, keyword research and basically almost all the stuff one should learn in having a website (if you want to optimize it to the fullest).
How is it going
In 2018, my website reached the milestone of obtaining its own domain and hosting. In 2019, I joined Iloilo Bloggers Society which helped me connect with other local bloggers and businesses.
Now, the blog covers topics about Iloilo and neighboring provinces.
This blog is optimized for commuters by giving out instructions to the readers on how to reach a particular spot in Iloilo using public transport.
Through the years, it has expanded its categories giving way to more interesting topics.
