Share Iloilo: Produkto Lokal Weekend Fair (Jaro Plaza)

Colorful banderitas, a number of tents, busy people, smiling faces and welcoming ambiance despite the thunderstorms in the opening day and high heat index on that weekend – these are only few of what you can notice from the Produkto Lokal Weekend Fair.

Jaro Plaza Produkto Lokal

For Iloilo City and province tenants, that weekend was different. Jaro Plaza is dressed in a different motif. Town product representative and local business owners gathered together at the bandstand with every town and business owner’s pride – this was what Produkto Lokal is made of this time.

This Weekend’s Participants

I have been to pasts Produkto Lokal events. This time, I must say that the trade fair has become bigger – noticeable number of participants and bigger venue for display. As my personal summary, the fair is dominated by three major sector – the organic/town’s pride, crafts/hand-made goodies and the food.

Mercado de Iloilo Town’s Pride

Pride of each town were arranges artistically on their assigned stalls. Vegetables, dried fishes, and seafood, organic chips, jams and jelly and even milk – eye-catchers for every stall with their town names as their banners.

Here are some of the stalls that gamely participated:

fresh vegetables

fresh milk

batuan

Crafts, Bling, and Hand-Made

There was also a good mixture of the stalls showcasing their creative sides. Different crafts and blings like earring, slippers, home decors and other accessories are available. This year’s fair opened up to new merchants and gave chances to other people like the ones from BJMP. Every amount collected from their finished products is truly a good help for them.

Here are some of the stalls that gamely participated:

bjmp

antipara

bags

Food, Drinks and More

How lovely is it to sit and dine after shopping for good food at the fair? Produkto Lokal has opened its gate once more to food enthusiasts and business startups in Iloilo. You can have rice meals, pica pica, desserts and drinks at one side of the fair.

Here are some of the stalls that gamely participated:

sidro

miss cheese

fort san pedro

This May’s Produkto Lokal was a success. Despite of the heavy rains and thunderstorms on the opening day, the fair was still blessed with fine good weekend weather. Personally, I hope for nothing but to have more fairs like this. There are a lot of Ilonggo enthusiasts and they night be waiting for the time and opportunity to showcase what they have got. May Produkto Lokal become bigger and better in the days to come!
