Iloilo City’s premier Panoramic painter Mark Vincent Garlito Java and San Joaquin’s heritage advocate and miniaturıst, Cristhom Selibio Setubal hold a one-of-a-kind experience that will blur the lines of time.

Rendezvous is to celebrate the boundless creativity that fuels our existence. This is a realm of imagination, a stroke of brilliance, a hue of emotion, and a texture of inspiration This exhibit is a testament to the power of human expression.

About the Artists:

Mark Vincent Garlito Java

Mark Vincent Garlito Java is a graduate of the University of the Philippines-Manila with a degree in Philippine Arts. He worked as a photojournalist and editorial cartoonist in several local news dailies in Iloilo City. In 2002, he worked as a web graphic artist for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. In 2008, an art competition was launched by Gawad Kalinga in Iloilo province and his works won first place in all 12 categories.

In 2012, his works were featured on the back covers of The News Today weekly magazine. In 2014, he founded Science Magic Philippines, the leading educational entertainment show in the country. Presently, he is a member of Himbon Contemporary Arts Group and Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas.

Cristhom Selibio Setubal

Cristhom Selibio Setubal is a self-taught artist who hails from San Joaquin Iloilo. His artworks involve advocacies in art appreciation, heritage awareness, and garbage reduction. In May 2019, his works were exhibited in the Museum of Philippine Economic History by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in Iloilo City in an exhibition called, “Sa Mata sang Manunubli.” His enthusiasm for history and heritage led him to another exhibit of upcycling art called “Iglesia: Heritage Churches of Iloilo”, which is currently on display at the National Museum of the Philippines — Iloilo.

His family owned a private Art Gallery and Mini-Museum, Setubals’ Arts and Artifacts is a repository of items of San Joaquin and the artworks of the family.
