Guest Post: Bugnayan Point Marine Sanctuary

It’s never too late to change your Holiday destination! How far will your 300PHP go?

Bugnayan Point Marine Sanctuary

Let’s go to Bugnayan Point Marine Sanctuary, Brgy. Lawigan, San Joaquin, Iloilo. It’s just around 2.5 hours away from the city. Yes it is quite far but it is worth it.

Bugnayan Point Marine Sanctuary

The sanctuary is being managed by the barangay of Lawigan. Last time I went there, one of the Brgy Councilors revealed to me the main reason why Bugnayan Point was opened to the public.

Bugnayan Point Marine Sanctuary

It is a Marine sanctuary and the access is limited. It is a little risky because the coral reef that was taken good care of the locals may get destroyed.

Bugnayan was opened not to expose its beauty but to safeguard it. There are resorts nearby and there are times that the visitors of other resorts may be not aware of the reserved area.

In order to guard the sanctuary and also to give livelihood for the locals, the marine sanctuary is opened to the public.
