After setting a strong precedent with its 2025 debut, Puregold officially kicked off its Hakot Relay 2026 series in Iloilo, marking the start of a wider initiative aimed at delivering value-driven experiences to communities across the Visayas and beyond. The opening leg, held on April 25 along Iloilo Sunset Boulevard, brought together high energy, community participation, and practical rewards in one engaging event.
Puregold’s Hakot Relay Iloilo combined the brand’s signature race format with live entertainment, featuring performances from popular Pinoy hip-hop artists Flow G and Skusta Clee. As the first of three nationwide stops, the Iloilo leg signaled a more expansive rollout for the Hakot Relay this year, setting the tone for succeeding legs in other parts of the country.
Participants from across the region—including Bacolod, Cebu, Antique, and other parts of Panay—traveled to Iloilo to take part in the event. For many, the experience went beyond simply joining a race. It also offered an opportunity to bring home essential groceries at a time when rising fuel costs and increasing prices of everyday goods continue to affect household budgets.
Vincent Co, President of Puregold Price Club Inc., emphasized that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to creating community-centered programs that provide both meaningful experiences and tangible support.
“We want to create experiences that bring people together while also delivering real value to our communities—something that reflects what Puregold stands for. The Hakot Relay is one way we’re able to connect with Filipinos by giving them something they can both enjoy and take home, especially at a time when basic needs matter even more. We look forward to sharing this to more areas and reaching even more customers,” he said.
More than a standard race, the Hakot Relay takes on deeper significance in today’s economic environment. With rising prices and ongoing uncertainties making daily expenses more challenging, the event serves as a timely response to the needs of Filipino families. By combining a shared community activity with the chance to take home useful items, the initiative highlights both connection and practical assistance.
Puregold Senior Marketing Manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad shared a similar sentiment, noting the importance of expanding the program to more regions.
“We’re happy to introduce the Hakot Relay to more regions this year, starting with the Visayas. It’s our way of giving back by creating something people can enjoy collectively, while also helping in a simple but meaningful way. Seeing that kind of response here in Iloilo makes this leg more fulfilling for us,” she said.
The Iloilo leg also demonstrated Puregold’s capability in organizing large-scale, on-ground events, building on the success of its inaugural run in 2025. Race waves, loot stations, and interactive activations were executed with strong coordination, allowing participants to fully experience both the excitement and purpose of the event.
Runners who completed the course received finisher’s medals, grocery bags, and exclusive event merchandise. Some participants also encountered surprise item drops along the route, adding another layer of excitement. These take-home items went beyond typical giveaways, offering practical resources that participants could use for their households in the months ahead.
As the Hakot Relay continues its nationwide run, Puregold strengthens a concept that resonates with today’s realities. With upcoming legs scheduled in South Luzon and Metro Manila, the Hakot Relay 2026 aims to reach more communities, delivering a “panalo” experience that brings people together while responding to the everyday needs of Filipino families.
