Marlu’s Restaurant is a new place in the heritage part of downtown Iloilo. As Iloilo moves toward a more modernized world, restaurants and food places would normally pop outs inside the malls, park districts or business centers. Although downtown is the home of the most heritage food places, it is not likely everyday that a new challenger would open a food business in the area.
Marlu’s Restaurant Menu
The place is open as early as 7:00 A.M. to serve breakfast and coffee. Probably due to the location, it is almost at the heart of government centers where Ilonggos can quickly grab a bite before doing their transactions.
They serve lunch (the time we visited) and they are up until 7:00 P.M. for those who would like to have an early dinner.
What We Had
We had chop suey, lechon kawali and lumpia. Paired with plain rice a can of Mountain Dew.
How to Get There
This is located above Socorro Drug Store just across the famous Cinema (now Unitop). The location is best for commuters because almost all jeepneys are passing by the area. You can ride your convenient route and for sure it will pass by here.

The challenge is with those who own private vehicles. There is no available parking here. As to what others are doing, they would park at the banks or malls nearby and walk a block or two going to the location. They also park at the nearest malls, and they take a jeepney going to the place.
What is best about Marlu’s Restaurant downtown is the fact that this is the only full-service restaurant, with a level-up ambiance and the offer of 180-degree view of Iznart and J.M. Basa Streets. Downtown Iloilo has a lot to offer when it comes to food, and Marlu’s Restaurant embraces the challenge to become one.
