Padayon Sa Pag-Uswag: Iloilo City Rises

Iloilo City Rises will be launched in Iloilo City on May 20. Ushered by a kicker, Padayon sa Pag-uswag, the 256-page, 9” x 12” coffee-table book narrates in words and pictures Iloilo City’s evolution.

The book has seven chapters—“A Livable, Lively Urbanscape,” written by Ma. Luisa E. Mabunay and photographed by Moshe Jobel M. Aranas; “Between Heritage and Modernity,” written by Vicente S. Salas and photographed by Ernesto J. Villanueva Jr.; “Ahead of the Curve,” written by Ted Aldwin E. Ong and photographed by Antonio Z. Rojas Jr.; “Pagpalangga in the City,” written by Hazel P. Villa and photographed by Carlos P. Garcia; “Classrooms of the Future,” written by Hazel P. Villa and photographed by Carlos P. Garcia; “Living in Harmony with Nature,” written by Rhick T. Albay and photographed by Ruperto P. Quitag; and “Rhythm and Pulse,” written by Rhick T. Albay and photographed by Antonio Z. Rojas Jr. Contributing photographers are Arnold Almacen and Nelson Rondan. All the writers and photographers are Ilonggos who reside and have their careers in the city.

A project of Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, this book serves as a legacy for Ilonggos to remind them of the dramatic developments in the last 20 years, which have transformed Iloilo into a prosperous and vibrant metropolis as well as a center of the arts, culture, and heritage in the Visayas.

The book is co-published by the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI) and Kasingkasing Press. Hardbound and softbound copies will be available after the launch.

Book orders are being accepted by IFFI. Pre-order discounted rates are PhP2,150.00 for hardbound (regular price is PHP2,700.00) and PhP1,250.00 for softbound ( regular price is PhP1,600.00). Please further information, please call 0960-420-2129 or email
