Banker-agriculturist Don Ramón Javellana built a house on Sta. Isabel Street in Jaro some 200 years back. Today it is better known as Casa Mariquit, after Doña Mariquita Javellana, Don Ramón’s granddaughter. She was born and raised in Casa Mariquit until at the tender age of 16, she eloped with one who would later become Vice-president Fernando López, Sr. The current owner is Don Ramón’s great-grandsons Robert L. Puckett and Judgie L. Peña.
The ground floor still features the vault of on Ramón’s bank.
