Semana sang Iloilo, which means “Week of Iloilo”, is a week-long celebration held annually in Iloilo, Philippines. It commemorates the establishment of the province’s civil government on April 11. This 2024 marks the 123rd Semana sang Iloilo celebration.
In line with this, various activities throughout the week showcase Iloilo’s cultural heritage, local talents, and economic achievements.
For this year, here are the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives events for the 123rd Semana sang Iloilo celebration.
April 8-12, 2024
APRIL 8 (Mon) | HANDUMANAN: Heritage Awareness through Art
Featuring the works of Ilonggo artists Cristhom “Do Doy” Setubal and Mark Vincent Java
Launching on April 8, 11 AM at the Casa Real de Iloilo, exhibit will run from April 8-30, 2024
HANDUMANAN: Heritage Awareness through Art featuring the works of Ilonggo artists Cristhom “Do Doy” Setubal and Mark Vincent Java.
This exhibit is the first art exhibit to be hosted by the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives for the 123rd Semana sang Iloilo.
The works highlight the culture of Iloilo through depicting heritage structures and daily life of Ilonggos in their art. The artworks will be displayed on the 2nd floor of Casa Real from April 8-30, 2024.

APRIL 11 (Thu) | WRITERS’ FORUM with Screenwriters’ Guild of the Philippines and Sumakwelan
Featuring award-winning writer and International book author, Dante Villanueva Aguilar; and Graduate School Professor, Palanca Awardee and Chairman of the Screenwriters Guild of the Philippines, Dr. Isabel Sebullen | 10 AM – 12 NN at the Iloilo Provincial Library
APRIL 11 (Thu) | COFFEE AT THE LIBRARY AND OPEN HOUSE
This event aims to promote the library to the public and Iloilo Provincial Capitol personnel. Visitors will be guided on the services and resources in the library | 1 PM – 5 PM at the Iloilo Provincial Library
APRIL 12 (Fri) | BOOK TALK x MUSIC
Ilonggo author Nile Kris Jan Banga to talk on his latest poetry book Soul Searching, with Ilonggo Singer and Songwriter Tom Falconite | 2 PM – 4 PM at the Iloilo Provincial Library lobby

Last April 12, 2024, the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives under the leadership of Ms. Allana Delgado hosted an afternoon filled with books and music as part of the celebration of Semana sang Iloilo 2024.
Ilonggo author Nile Kris Jan Banga talked about his latest poetry book Soul Searching, and Ilonggo Singer and Songwriter Tom Falconite serenaded the audience with his songs Balang Araw and Pavia.
The event was attended by the guests, Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives staff, Iloilo Blogger Society members, students, and more.
