Requesting for birth certificate is an easy process. I braved through processing mine and surprisingly, it only took me around 30 minutes. This is the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Iloilo City and here is my experience.
Note: This is written from my personal experience of processing my birth certificate in PSA Iloilo City.
Before getting started, here are the basic requirements for your guide:
First, I arrived at PSA at around 8:30 A.M. I was asked to fill out a form. It looks like this so you’ll have the idea what information is needed.
Second, they booked me for an appointment. After filling out the form, there is a desk where you can get your appointment. They would ask for your PhilSys ID if available but if not, any valid ID would suffice.
Third, is the assessment. They will review the form you’ve filled out and will give you a number for queuing.
Fourth, is the payment. You will be queuing at the cashier where you can pay the necessary amount needed for the request.
Lastly, is the release. After payment is made, you will need to go to the releasing section where you will get the PSA Birth Certificate you have requested.
Things to remember for a smoother transaction:
- Bring your pen.
- Bring your PhilSys ID; if you don’t have it yet, bring your valid ID.
- Pay the exact amount, or at least bring smaller bills.
