Let’s Have Some Funds in Iloilo by Sun Life Financial

As the heavy rains poured, heavy financial literacy is also pouring at Dova Brunch Café as Sun Life Financial brought “Let’s Have Some Funds” in Iloilo. The afternoon was filled with pure financial enlightenment as Financial Advisors, Blogger, Social Media Influencers and Guests gathered in one place to have an engaging discussion in preparing for a brighter life ahead.

Money Under 30

The first speaker for that afternoon is a home-grown entrepreneur Ms. Katrina Loring.

Through the years, she has managed various businesses such as StyleBreak, The Eye Level and Greg’s Café. Her talk was very relatable. In her discussion, she made an emphasis that majority who are in their early 30s have:

  • Zero Savings
  • Practices over Spending
  • And credit abuse

Guilty? Because I am. Because I am now in my mid-20s, more financial responsibility came in and hopefully I will be doing a good job in managing my finance better.

Ms. Kat’s Advice:

Before she ended her talk, she made it clear to the millennial audience that the only way to achieve this is by having a clear goal and achieving it by carefully planning your budget, living within your means and stop on buying unnecessary things to impress people.

Financial Security and Brighter Life

The next speaker is Michael Gustilo, the Visayas Regional Sales Manager.

In his talk, he gave importance on the people who are spending too much on wants. Certainly, millennial are actually on the brighter side. Few of the advantages that he was able to point out were:

  • Having so many goals
  • Access to information and advertisement
  • Opportunity to attend talks on financial security
Insider Tip:

The best day to start saving was yesterday. The second best day is maybe today. You don’t have to start big; just get started with whatever you have. Little as it may be, it can later develop into a habit. The road to a brighter life is not rocket science. It takes time, discipline and clear goals for us to be able to achieve everything that we are dreaming of. Also, start surrounding yourself with people whose focus and aim is aligned to yours.

The afternoon wrapped up with delectable snacks, raffle prizes and giveaways. Iloilo is very lucky to have this kind of talks from Sun Life Financial. Finally,  through our little efforts, we have a role in spreading the know-how in all possible mediums we have.
