Iglesia is an exhibit of heritage churches of Panay by Cristhom Setubal made from recycled materials like old wood, wires, ballpoint pens, and nails, which the artist magically transforms into a unique collection of mixed media artworks.

It is currently at the National Museum of the Philippines – Iloilo. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Entrance is FREE.

About the Artist Cristhom Setubal

Cristhom Setubal (Do Doy on Facebook) is an Ilonggo artist from San Joaquin, a town in the 1st District of Iloilo Province. The Heritage Churches is already his second exhibit from his series. Spoiler: his third series will be old houses.

Cristhom Setubal

Do Doy is a retired sea farer, teacher, artist, and family man. If you are a member of Old Iloilo and other relevant Iloilo groups and communities online, you will often encounter Do Doy sharing his heritage sketches – from buildings to houses, to churches, and more. He began sketching in 2016, which was also exhibited in the National Museum of Western Visayas in 2019.

Before taking his art journey, Do Doy was an antique collector. He got his passion and love for antiques from his late father, to whom he dedicates this series of upcycled art pieces.

He uses scrap materials for sustainability. It was not an overnight success. He went through the rigors of experiments with waste materials to finally build the pieces of his shares for history, culture, and heritage.
The following are heritage pieces and the product of his passion:
