Iloilo City Government will be launching the City-wide Cleanup at La Paz Plaza on Saturday June 4 at 6:30am to be followed by simultaneous conduct of cleaning activities in 180 barangays to combat dengue.
Mayor Jerry Treñas encouraged everyone to support massive cleanup operations in villages to get rid of dengue-carrying mosquitoes by clearing its breeding grounds.
City Hall has alerted barangays especially with several dengue cases to conduct preventive measures against the dreaded disease caused by mosquitoes.
These included Pali Benedicto with five cases; MV Hechanova, Bakhaw and Calahunan with three cases each; and two cases each for Bolilao, Guzman, Nabitasan, Balabago, Buhang, Buntatala, Tabuc Suba, San Pedro, MH del Pilar, Ortiz and Cuartero.

The metropolis recorded additional 22 dengue cases to a total of 70 cases as of May 28, from 48 cases posted May 21 since January 1, 2022.
The public is advised not to be complacent but vigilant against dengue.
Health advocacy and campaign reiterated the 4S Strategy to include:
1.) Search and Destroy breeding places;
2.) Self Protection such as using mosquito repellants;
3.) Seek early consultation when experiencing symptoms such as fever from two to seven days, nosebleeding, difficulty breathing, pain behind the eyes, muscles and joints; weakness; abdominal pain and vomiting, dark-colored stool, and rashes; and
4.) Support spraying to prevent impending outbreak. (Iloilo City PIO)
