Smart Communications organized an afternoon filled with so much learnings for digital enthusiast aspirants to celebrate Dinagyang 2020 with media and blog practitioners of the city. Instead of a usual eat out and simple talk, this year, Smart Communications bring in Carlo Ople – one of the country’s premier digital savvy person who is indeed a seasoned practitioner in his field.
Getting to Know Carlo Ople
Carlo Ople is currently the Vice President & Deputy Head for Public Affairs at PLDT. He is a digital entrepreneur, vlogger, social media influencer, public speaker and veteran digital marketer. He is travelling the world through all these jobs.
It was indeed a special afternoon because we are all able to learn and get inspired to get outside the box, to think of ways on how to leverage what we have, to earn more because we all can. I will be sharing with you special tips from the expert himself.
His Top Two Tips for YouTube Content Creator
First is Click Through Rate
Click Through Rate is the instances how many times a user would click your video whenever they see it. Once your video is being recommended, users must be compelled to click and watch it.
His advice?
A super compelling thumbnail. It does not have to be funny but interesting enough to catch the viewers attention. Also, take time to formulate a persuasive title. According to him, title like “My Day, My Life, and the like are less likely to get clicks because viewers will just shrug their shoulder, raise their eyebrows and exit.
Also, upload your video with the right title. Do not just hit upload with video_001.mp4 as the filename.
Second is Watch Time
Watch Time is how long the viewers would stay in your channel. Viewer have higher chances of exiting immediately when they feel bored, flat and nothing to see.
His advice?
Make your video like a “heartbeat”. It should be something similar to an electrocardiogram that shows in up-down-up-down strokes. He recommends showing something to “wow” audience every five seconds.
You Can Always “Do More”
The advantage of today’s generation is the fact that the skillsets are not limited to one. Strive to amplify what you can do. If you can write, learn how to edit videos and vice versa. The opportunities are endless from being content creator, YouTubers, page managers and the future of Instagram and TikTok is also coming.
According to Carlo, the best topic to start with is “something you are an expert of or something you love so much that you enjoy doing” and it does not have to be the same all the time; it can change through time.
A Productive and Fun-Filled Afternoon
We ended the afternoon by visiting the digital historical marker situated at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary and a good early dinner at Bavaria German Restaurant & Inn.
