Having a good immune system is the best arsenal to fight the against coronavirus. But unfortunately, there is no perfect vitamins and supplements that can help a person to boost the immunity a hundred percent. The fortunate thing is, there are ways that we can do to help in strengthening our immune system.
Here are some few good habits that we can all practice.
Have a Good Sleep
Getting no sleep at all has a negative impact on your immune system. It is advisable to keep and aim for seven to eight hours of sleep for working adults. Getting naps is also valuable and counted for the recommended time.
Eat Healthy
Fill your meals with immune-boosting food. Fruits and vegetables are few food sources that can help the immune system because of its natural supply of nutrition. These are also filled with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
I am lucky in this area because I am staying at home where I can have home-cooked meals with no preservatives. My mom has been too responsible making meals from breakfast to dinner. She might miss this too much because on ordinary days, I rarely stay at home. Staying at home also means staying from fast food and yes, milk tea.
Exercise
Exercising regularly can help boost the immune system. Being active can help in reducing the possibility of getting more chronic diseases that would tend to weaken the immune system more. Some of these lifestyle diseases that could be prevented are diabetes, obesity and heart diseases.
I am personally guilty in this department. I am really not that active as compared to the years ago. Although I get to have more time to exercise, I lack the amenities and space. Iloilo Esplanade, my favorite exercise venue is closed also due to the enhanced community quarantine. I can only do a little stretching and a few walks outside.
Less Stress
It is okay not to be okay. The current situation brings in a lot of stress factors also. When we’re stressed, the immune system’s ability to fight off antigens is reduced and we become more susceptible to infections.
To me, the most effective stress “fighting” tip in managing stress level is talking to someone. My mom, my dogs, my friends via virtual ways. I know that it varies from one person to another. If you want to have professional help, here is a list of mental health initiatives around Iloilo City or you may opt to receive and process calls from the 2919 HOPELINE.
Lastly, do not forget to always wash your hands with soap and water. It helps in preventing the spread of germs and viruses.
