USWAG Community Kitchen (“UCK”) is one of the most unique and effective initiatives of the Iloilo City Government during the middle of the pandemic with the goal: “No Ilonggo will be left hungry.”
240 USWAG Community Kitchens started on March 21, 2020 and served millions of food packs to thousands of Ilonggo families.
“The Uswag Community Kitchen (UCK) is a clear manifestation that Ilonggos are making sure that no one will be hungry during this time when we are under ECQ for two weeks. We continue to get donations of chicken, pork, vegetables, bihon and others which are needed for the dishes. I thank all donors, volunteers and organizers. We will all get through this together. We will not leave anyone behind with your support and your help! Bátò Iloilo!” Mayor Jerry Treñas said.
This operation is supervised by Jerry P. Treñas’ daughter Raisa Treñas-Chu together with Ms. Mary Grace Centino (formerly a Public Employment Services Office Head) and her staff.
