Treñas Chairs Infrastructure Committee of Regional Development Council

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has been elected as Chairperson of the Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) of the Regional Development Council VI, Aug. 18, 2022.

The IDC’s functions are:

1.) Review and endorse programs/projects of national government agencies and local government units in the region to the Council requiring national government financial exposure which may come in the form of guarantees, national government budget appropriations, or subsidies, among others;

2.) Undertake the formulation and prioritization of development plans and investment programs for the infrastructure development sector;

3.) Conduct a review of investment programs and budget proposals submitted by the regional line agencies to ensure consistency with the priority thrusts of the region;

4.) Coordinate the implementation of activities/programs/projects related to the infrastructure development sector and involving several line agencies and local government units;

5.) Identify pertinent development issues/concerns and recommend actions where appropriate including the provision of technical assistance when requested;

6.) Monitor and evaluate the implementation of sectoral development plans and investment programs and assess the performance of the infrastructure development sector; and

7.) Perform other related functions as may be assigned by the Council.

The RDC is the highest planning and policy-making body in the region. It serves as the counterpart of the NEDA Board at the sub-national level. It is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region. It also serves as a forum where local efforts can be related and integrated with regional and national development activities. (Iloilo City PIO)
