The sculptures of Boy Masculino are on display as part of a celebration of National Arts Month at the UP Visayas Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (UPV MACH).
Ten sculptures consisting of wood, scrap metal, and garbage are displayed at the exhibition titled “Tigbaylo: Reimagining Waste”.
The artwork is a formal experiment whose social criticism permeates its entire concept.
Masculino is an architect by profession, but since the 1980s, he has gained increasing recognition as an artist who recycles waste of various kinds.
The public can view “Tigbaylo: Reimagining Refuse,” curated by Prof. Martin Genodepa, at the Lantip Changing Exhibition Gallery 1 of the UPV MACH until March 24, 2023.
The UPV MACH gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
