Office of the University Registrar Holds Student Academic Information System Online and In-Person Training among UPV Personnel

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) facilitated the online and in-person training on Student Academic Information System (SAIS) for University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) personnel. The College Secretaries and their staff, division/department/institute personnel involved in the enrollment, and the OUR and NSTP staff participated in the training that lasted for more than a week.

The online SAIS training was scheduled on November 28 – December 2, 2022. The in-person training was set on December 5-6 for UPV Miagao and Iloilo personnel and December 12-13 for UPV Tacloban personnel, respectively.

The UP System SAIS experts from the Information Technology and Development Center (ITDC) were invited as resource persons for the said training. Sheherazade II Ocampo and Jed Louis Aquino will conduct the training in Iloilo, while Jed Louis Aquino and Bladimir Hamor will conduct the training in Tacloban.

As per a memorandum from the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Philip Ian Padilla, UPV will be adopting the SAIS, which is one of the modules under the University Information System that is integrated among other UP CUs. This integration will make data and report generation easier and faster within UPV and among all CUs.

UPV will initially adopt parallel implementation of SAIS and Computerized Registration and Student Information System (CRSIS), with the first-year students using SAIS and other continuing students using CRSIS in the first year of implementation.

The OVCAA further states that in the second year of implementation, incoming first-year students and second-year students will use SAIS, and the other continuing students will use the CRSIS. The simultaneous use of the two systems will continue for the succeeding years until such time that all students have migrated to SAIS. (Ms. Ana Liza A. Subade, OUR)
