Globe Maintains Quality Health and Safety Protection across Workforce

Globe remains committed to providing employees and third-party partners with the best health and safety protection amid the pandemic.

Through its Occupational Health and Safety program, Globe follows a proactive approach aligned with global best practices to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its workforce.

Last year, Globe mobilized a COVID-19 taskforce to plan and execute the company’s initiatives in ensuring continuity of operations and securing the physical and mental health of employees as well as that of its contractors. It developed risk mitigation strategies to enable the company to adapt to the changing conditions brought about by the global health crisis.

The telco likewise invested approximately P35 million for a dedicated RT- PCR laboratory called Globe Lab which was certified by the Department of Health (DOH), to enable regular COVID-19 testing and screening for all employees and third party partners. The facility has a capacity to conduct 10,000 tests monthly.

Globe also developed the G-Check mobile app, allowing the company to monitor the health status of its critical workforce, and monitor the health of work-from-home employees as well as those returning to the company’s offices.

In its Annual Work Accident Illness Report submitted to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Globe reported zero deaths and zero man hours lost in 2020, indicating that no employees were involved in any incident that resulted in fatalities.

Likewise, for the past three years, Globe recorded zero disabling injury or illness, while the number of non-disabling injuries declined steadily from 103 in 2018, to 87 in 2019, and 27 in 2020.

“We are doing our best to ensure our employees’ and third party partners’ health and safety especially during the current crisis, so that we can continue operating and providing our customers the extra care that they need,” said Rizza Maniego-Eala, Globe Chief Risk Officer.

The company’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System has received an enterprise-wide ISO 45001 certification that is implemented under the Integrated Management System in 2018 and passed its recertification audit this year conducted by British Standards Institution (BSI)

“Globe protects workers’ rights and promotes safe and secure working environments for all. We will continue working towards strengthening our practices to promote diversity, inclusion and all-around employee well-being,” Maniego-Eala added.
