Providing immunity from Covid-19 for Ilonggos is very important. The preparation to immunize the residents is in a long term goal.
Johnson and Johnson (“J&J”) have presented their proposal to the Iloilo City Government to provide additional vaccines for Iloilo City residents. They said that they could allocate the Janssen vaccine on the third or fourth quarter of the year upon the approval of the National Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (“IATF”). The J&J vaccine’s effectiveness in preventing infections is 66% in its large global trial. It can be given in a single dose and stored in normal refrigerators that meant it will be easier to distribute to safeguard the Ilonggos. The local government is coordinating closely with the National IATF so to discuss the procurement process.
