May is National Heritage Month.
Let National Museum walk you through the many Pamana Ng Lahing Filipino, so, we will become prouder of our roots.
This year’s National Heritage Month theme, shared by NM Western Visayas National Museum on Facebook, Mga Kwentong Pamana or Stories of Heritage, aims to remind us of the greatness of our race and the indomitable spirit of our forebears.
By utilizing the digital platforms, our National Museum Western Visayas will tell us inspirational stories about us, Filipinos, in relation to objects and other intangible expressions that are featured in the regional museum in Iloilo City.
Mga Kwentong Pamana will talk about resilience, heroism, ingenuity, creativity, craftsmanship, respect for nature, artistry, struggles and victories, biodiversity and climate change, indigenous peoples, among many others.
Through these stories, they are bringing the museum into our homes with the hope that this initiative will raise public awareness on cultural heritage sites, structures and landscapes as well as the intangible cultural heritage of the country.
They also hope to lessen the stresses and anxiety felt by Filipinos who are quarantined at their homes here in the Philippines and other parts of the world by engaging them in various informative activities. Netizens are encouraged to be creative while in quarantine and share their works and heritage stories to encourage connectivity among peoples.
We can use #MgaKwentongPamana in our posts. We can also download the FB Frame to show support.
According to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, this year’s National Heritage Month theme highlights the social and cultural impact of sharing knowledge, experiences, and stories of Filipino heritage in the preservation of the country’s legacies.
