Psych Student Places 2nd in DOH-6’s Mental Health Day Art Tilt

Rica Abigail Anonoy, a junior BA in Psychology student from the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), placed second in an art competition for the World Mental Health Day held last Oct. 7 at a resort in Arevalo district, Iloilo City.

Anonoy was second among the eight representatives from various institutions in Iloilo who competed in the poster-making contest organized by the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-6), according to the UPV Student Organizations and Activities (SOA).

The competition titled “Healing Through Sining” was in line with the World Mental Health Day celebration on Oct. 10.

Anonoy said: “As an artist and a psychology student, it is a great pleasure and honor to use my talent to advocate for my cause.”

She shared that it was her first time joining a such contest, making it a memorable experience for her. She received a cash prize of P7,000 for her placement.

Through DOH-6’s Mental Health Program, art is highlighted as a powerful tool for nurturing resilience and building connections.

The theme for this year’s World Mental Health Celebration is “Make Mental Health and Well-Being for all a Global Priority.” (Mr. Carlson B. Alelis, IPO with sources from SOA)
