A total of 9,740 got vaccinated against COVID-19 during the first walk-in last Thursday August 19, 2021 in five vaccination sites in Iloilo City.
This is after the Iloilo City Government opened the Thursday schedule for both residents and non-residents on a first come-first served basis until supplies last.
Willing people should bring valid ID or any proof of identification to various venues including Central Philippine University, Robinsons Jaro, Ateneo de Iloilo, Megaworld and SM City.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said getting vaccinated has become urgent because of the more contagious Delta.
“I am requesting everyone to be vaccinated. There are more deaths reported to us this month especially coming from the unvaccinated sector. Please be vaccinated,” Treñas said.
“The Delta variant is more infectious and more virulent. I feel very sad that more unvaccinated Ilonggos are dying. I am asking everyone to be vaccinated at the earliest possible time. Any COVID vaccine is effective and can prevent severe cases and death,” he added.

“The rate of infection is highly suspicious that the Delta variant is really in our midst. Please protect yourselves. Get vaccinated at the earliest possible time. We need to vaccinate more people – a little less than 75% needs to be vaccinated so that you will be protected,” said Treñas. (Iloilo City PIO)
