Iloilo City’s first dog pound and shelter is finally inaugurated last June 14, 2022. Dog Pound will provide shelter for stray, lost, abandoned, or surrendered dogs and cats.
The Beginning: Iloilo City Dog Pound
Councilor Jay Treñas has posted via his official page that a site in Barangay Calajuhan, Mandurriao has been identified as the site for the proposed Iloilo City Dog Pound. It has been a long journey for Iloilo City to finally have a home for our furry friends.
In full advocacy on the No Kill Policy, Councilor Treñas has passed the Regulation Ordinance No. 2018-024 – An Ordinance Amending Reg. Ord. No. 97-042 or the Ordinance Creating The Iloilo City Pound And For Other Purposes”. It is now under the administration of Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Currently, the Iloilo City – Office of the City Veterinarian has no facility designed for this purpose. For now, the office offers free anti-rabies vaccination for pets and free neuter.
