The five-story Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) command center has been opened at Gaisano Iloilo City Center along Diversion Road in the Mandurriao district.
Mayor Jerry Treňas said the City Government has embarked on a centralized facility for city-wide monitoring.
He thanked Gaisano for providing the lot through a usufruct agreement where the structure was built.
The mayor added the National Resilience Council has committed to help establish the monitoring system which initially requires some P20-million funding.
The new building is being manned by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
It will also host the personnel and equipment of the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to respond faster to urgent situations.
