The Iloilo City Civil Registry Office (CCRO) will soon be providing easier and better access for unregistered indigents to get their birth certificate for free in the barangays.
In partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) will start in the third quarter of this year after the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement.
There will be some 7,000 slots to open which will cater to indigents regardless of their place of birth.
Mayor Jerry Treňas hopes the initiative of bringing services closer to the people will be of big help to the poor.
CCRO will be visiting 180 barangays to bring the services to those who are unregistered.
The list of unregistered will be submitted by CCRO to PSA for processing and the birth certificate will be mailed to the recipients without fee within two weeks. (Alexandra Jover/Iloilo City PIO)
