World-Class Filipino Engineers

Filipino engineers are world-class, laying the foundations of infrastructure and technology locally and globally for many generations — and Globe continues to support them in areas they need it most.

To commemorate World Engineering Day, held every 4th day of March, Globe co-presented Manila Water Foundation’s World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development to help raise awareness on the role of engineering in modern life that’s essential in mitigating the impact of climate change and advancing sustainable development.

During the session, engineers from various fields, representing the women’s sector as well as the youth, were invited to talk about how engineering shapes the world we live in by solving social issues and to encourage students to choose engineering as a career. The speakers also discussed how technology and the collaboration between the public and private sector can help the Philippines achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

“Manila Water Foundation, through the Prize for Engineering Excellence, has been honoring Filipino engineers for their contribution to solve societal issues for many years. MWF led the World Engineering Day virtual event to celebrate how engineering professionals across various fields continue to shape today’s society. MWF is grateful to the support of partners such as Globe Telecom, a key partner in driving synergies for sustainability and a wonderful world,” said Reginald M. Andal, Manila Water Foundation’s Executive Director.

Globe celebrated the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Philippine Technological Council.

“Our vision is for the whole nation to embrace STEM education, since we believe that it is a vital component in harnessing Filipino ingenuity for economic advancement. We continue to focus on the development of educational programs for STEM and support similar endeavors,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.
