UPV, UPVAB Sign MOA for Miagao Campus Eco-Trail Project

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and the UP Validus Amicitia Brotherhood (UPVAB) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the establishment of an eco-trail project in the UPV Miagao campus on Oct. 12.

Chancellor Clement Camposano and VAB Inc. (VABI) Chairman and President Julix Moore Mendoza, representing their respective parties, signed the agreement at the Conference Room, New Administration Building, UPV Miagao campus.

UPVAB is collaborating with UPV in the funding, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the eco-trail and regreening site using recognized principles of sustainable and safe design and development.

Both parties agreed on the importance of developing sustainable eco-trail and green space that is an integral component of outdoor recreation.

The MOA is in line with UPV’s initiative to involve its alumni in the preservation and enhancement of UPV’s natural beauty, making it more suitable for biking, hiking, trail running, camping, and nature tripping, among others.

Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Rhodella Ibabao and Mr. Noel Lucero, one of the founders of VABI, served as witnesses at the signing.

Prof. Frediezel De Leon, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Administration and OIC of the OVCA, was also present on behalf of Vice Chancellor John Lorenz Belanio.

The chancellor, who is a member of UPVAB himself, said the eco-trail project can help in the overall fight against environmental destruction. (Mr. Carlson B. Alelis, IPO)
