The Iloilo City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO) launched the “Digital Tourism Flipbook Contest” as part of the celebration of Tourism Month in September.
Mayor Jerry Treňas hopes the innovation will be of big help to the initiatives on strong tourism promotions.
Residents, especially those who are tech-savvy and students with a background in online interactive media, are urged to use their skills in designing a digital guidebook about the city.
“Ga-encourage gid kami sa tanan (We encourage everyone) to join us and take part in promoting Iloilo City, as [it will give us] a sense of ownership as Ilonggos,” City Tourism Officer Junel Ann Divinagracia said.
The new reading material will serve its purpose of introducing the city virtually, through the use of interactive animation, videos, QR codes, and other web-based features, said Tourism Operations Officer Florence King Erlano.
The project will help netizens to know more about Iloilo City, connect with its historical resemblance, and to discover which destinations are good to visit when touring around the metro.
The criteria, details, and guidelines are posted on CTDO Facebook Page, and cash prizes await the participants who are interested in joining.
The contest is in partnership with Globe Telecom. (Angelo Miranda/Iloilo City PIO)
Great initiative.
