Indonesian Ambassador Agus Widjojo meets with UP Visayas officials

Indonesian Ambassador Agus Widjojo visited UP Visayas and met with University officials last 20 January 2023 to discuss potential collaborations in the future. Chancellor Clement C. Camposano welcomed Ambassador Widjojo, who was joined by his wife, Madame Ranny Agus Widjojo.

An intimate gathering took place at the College of Management, where the deans of the various colleges introduced their respective programs to the Ambassador’s entourage. Ms. Aisyah Edna Palupi, Education Attachè, also introduced several scholarship programs that Indonesia is currently offering. The Embassy also offers short-term courses for Filipinos who wish to learn Bahasa Indonesia or Indonesian, the official language of Indonesia.

The entourage of Ambassador Widjojo was made up of Mr. Kusuma Pradopo, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs; Ms. Ramah Juwita, Second Secretary for Social and Cultural Affairs; Mr. Martin Pandapotan, Trade Attachè; and Mr. Maman Firmansyah, the Ambassador’s private secretary.

Also present in the meeting were Dr. Philip Ian Padilla, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Dr. Harold Monteclaro, Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension; Dr. Encarnacion Emilia Yap, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences; Dr. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Atty. Christopher Honorario, Dean of the College of Management; and Dr. Rowen Paz Gelvezon, Dean of the Graduate School. Dr. Jihan Alumbro attended the meeting on behalf of Dean Ramer Bautista of the School of Technology. Prof. Hanny John Mediodia, Assistant to the VCAA for International Linkages, was also present.

Members of the University Student Council were invited to the meeting to see what opportunities students from the University can pursue in the future. The representatives included Audrey Eurielle Dayata, Arvin John Lauresta, Ymah Belle Beraye, Jumeira Peñaflorida, Nicole Marie Recate, and Anton Matthew Quilantang.

After the meeting, Chancellor Camposano gave Ambassador Widjojo and his entourage a tour of the UPV Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (MACH). (UPV-IPO)
