The UPHSI Batch ’76 turned over P308,500.00 for the Adopt-a-Room Project of the University of the Philippines Visayas.
A formal turnover ceremony and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement were held at the Conference Hall of the Museum of Arts and Cultural Heritage, UPV Iloilo City Campus, on February 3, 2023.
Mr. Edgardo Luis, the current president of the batch, signed the agreement with Chancellor Clement C. Camposano that transferred the donation of the above-mentioned amount for the repair and/or refurbishment of a selected room adopted under the project. Witnessing the signing were Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Rhodella Ibabao and Ms. Susan Cerillo-Golez, current treasurer.
Also present during the turnover were members of Batch ’76, composed of LTO Director Eric Lenard Tabaldo, Ms. Eloisa Jamolo, and Ms. Elizabeth Gonzales.
Camposano recognized the donation in his message as “a vote of confidence for the University and the belief of the alumni in what UPV can do as it performs its mandate.” The Chancellor acknowledged that the MOOEs of the University is not enough for its yearly operations. Hence, the support of the alumni through donations is valuable, especially since UPV is entering into a blended format in its instruction and there are requirements for these modalities.
The UPV Adopt-A-Room is a project of the Office of the Chancellor that was launched in November 2022. The project is designed to support existing UPV rooms that need upgrading, renovation, and refurbishment. (Ms. AL Ramirez, IPO)
